Between a Malaysian orchard and a North American cold store, durian passes through several hands and many days. Preparation decides how it arrives.
From collection point to container
- Selection. Durians of good quality are selected and collected.
- Cleaning. Fruit is cleaned, brushed and washed to remove dust and dirt.
- Cryogenic freezing. Liquid-nitrogen freezing preserves freshness for a long journey.
- Vacuum packing and labelling. Each fruit is packed individually, boxed and labelled by variety so it is easy to identify.
- Logistics. We work with logistics partners to keep the product frozen until it reaches the buyer.
Why the journey takes planning
International shipments pass through export procedures, customs at both ends and possible delays along the way. Frozen product gives buyers the margin those steps require.
Planning imports into North America
Requirements for importing frozen fruit differ between countries in the region. Importers should confirm current permit, inspection, food-safety and labelling requirements with the relevant authorities before ordering.
